If I am training with a Heart Rate Monitor, how do I calculate the 5 levels (L1 – L5) of intensity?

Answer: A Heart Rate Monitor is a great tool for endurance training.  You must recalibrate your heart rate every 4 to 6 weeks into training as you will get fitter. To calculate your heart rate levels, please download the free training log for our website. Within the training log, you will find a performance testing page that will allow you to calculate your personal hear rate levels.

Can I move workouts around?

Answer: Use the training plan as a guide and adjust the training days according to your schedule.  Try to minimize movement of key workouts on the training plan. With longer workouts, you would typically need a 24 to 48 hour rest period.

Can I move my rest day?

Answer: Rest days in all our training plans are on a Monday. This is done to accommodate the typical working persons work schedule from Monday to Friday and to schedule longer workouts over the weekend.  You can swap your rest days to Sunday or Friday, but you will probably need to do your longer workouts on both weekend days towards the competitive phase of the training plan.

What are the pre-requisites before I start training for a triathlon?

Answer: Before starting any endurance training, you should always consult with your doctor and have a complete physical checkup.  Most fist time athletes require a couple of weeks to get back in shape before starting a training regime. The minimum requirement for the sprint and olympic distance training is that you have the ability to swim one lap without stopping, run 1/2 mile without difficulty and bike 15 to 30 mins non-stop.  Other longer distance training plans have higher pre-requisites and requires that you have some race experience.

How will my training plan arrive?

Answer: Your training plan will arrive as a digital download immediately after a purchase transaction is completed.  The training plan is readable in Adobe PDF reader (available in most computers) and will also be sent to your email.  Adobe reader can be downloaded here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
